Date Calculator

Two everyday date problems, one tool. Count the exact time between two dates — in days, weeks, months and years — or start from a date and jump forward or backward by any amount to find a deadline, a review date, or 'what was 90 days ago'.

How the difference is counted

The day count is exclusive of the start date — from 1 June to 8 June is 7 days, the same way ages, deadlines, and interest periods are counted. If you need an inclusive count (both endpoints, common for hotel-night vs. rental-day style questions), add 1 to the result.

The years/months/days breakdown uses real calendar months, so it handles 28-, 29-, 30-, and 31-day months and leap years exactly — no "assume 30-day months" approximations.

Adding months: the end-of-month rule

What is 31 January + 1 month? There's no 31 February, so the standard convention — used here and in most financial systems — clamps to the last day of the target month: 28 February (29 in leap years). Adding days never needs clamping; only month and year arithmetic does.

Business days vs calendar days

This calculator counts calendar days. Contracts and government deadlines sometimes specify business days (Mon–Fri, excluding public holidays); as a rule of thumb, N business days ≈ N × 1.4 calendar days, but always check which the document means — the difference on "10 days" is nearly a week.

Frequently asked questions

How many days are between two dates?

Pick the two dates in 'Days between dates' mode. The tool returns the exact day count plus the same span expressed in weeks-and-days and in years/months/days. From 1 January to 31 December of a common year is 364 days.

What date is 90 days from today?

Use 'Add / subtract from a date' with today's date and 90 days. Ninety days is about 12 weeks and 6 days — just short of three months, which is why visa rules written as '90 days' don't quite equal 'three months'.

Does the count include the start and end dates?

The start date is excluded and the end date included — the standard convention for deadlines and durations. For an inclusive count of calendar days covered, add one.

How are leap years handled?

Exactly: every February 29 in the range is counted as a real day. A span crossing one leap day is one day longer than the same month-and-day span in a common year.

Can I count only business days?

This tool counts calendar days. To approximate business days, multiply calendar weeks by 5 and subtract public holidays in your region — or count from the weeks-and-days result: each full week contributes exactly 5 business days.
